- The people of North Bengal are also a varied lot. The tea gardens brought in Tribals from Bengal and Bihar. The hill stations attracted people from neighboring Nepal, and the partition of 1947 brought in Hordes of Bengalis from Bangladesh.
- The Hills, the jungles and the serene beauty of undulating tea gardens spread to the horizon.

Lolegaon / Loleygaon
At an altitude of 1850 M in the midst of undulating slopes and adorned with towering Dhupi and Cypress trees, Lolegaon / Loleygaon is the place of ethereal wilderness. Glittering Kanchenjunga at dawn or sensational sunrise and sunset from Jhandidara will leave you spellbound. The soft colourful petals of the flowers and orchids and the cool breeze will bring a new life in you.
Lolegaon came into prominence as an offbeat tourist destination during the 1990’s with West Bengal Forest Development Corporation opening a tent accommodation here as well as providing tourist booking in its bungalow. Within few years the combination of dense green natural forests and great view of surrounding mountains made this destination a must visit for tourists who want to travel through the less trodden path.
Today the small village of Lolegaon is a burgeoning tourist center with dozens of tourist accommodations all around. Most of the hotels are in budget category but there are a couple of accommodations which can cater to the discerning traveler. Do not come with high expectation of a city based hotel and you will not be disappointed.
An important offbeat destination in Kalimpong hills, Lolegaon is 123 km from Siliguri, 70 kms from Darjeeling, 54 km from Kalimpong and 24 km from Lava. Travel time varies depending upon the road condition but the average distance covered in the hills can be taken to be around 30 kms per hour for easy calculation of approximate travel time.
The visit to the Heritage Forest of Lolegaon is a must to get a feel of the exquisite wealth nature has showered here. The unique 'Canopy Walk' over the century old mossy Oak and Cypress in the Heritage Forest is a thrilling experience. The all-pervading melodious silence will give you a new dimension of contended soul. The Heritage forest is located within walking distance from the village.
The wilderness resorts in Lolaygaon are located amidst the natural environment offering best view of Kunchendzonga and surrounding mountains. In Naturebeyond's all-inclusive packages these bungalows are used to maintain the best possible service. Booking in privet hotels is also done as per guest's choice
