Situated 15 Km away from Kalimpong Town Ramdhura is a small village in Kalimpong district, West Bengal. The name Ramdhura is derived from a combination of two words ‘Ram’ who is a Hindu god and ‘Dhura’ meaning village. The village is located close to Kalimpong town.
Kalimpong town is situated on the southwest end of a long ridge. Durpin and Deolo are the two peaks on the ridge and Kalimpong town lies in between the two. From the Deolo hill area, two spurs have gone down north towards the Teesta. On one of these spurs, about 8 km from Deolo is the location of the village Ramdhura. Being close to Kalimpong means you can reach the town in half an hour's drive, yet enjoy the seclusion and serenity of village life.
Ramdhura is situated at an elevation of approximately 5000 ft above sea level. Surrounded by green pine tree forests and hills Ramdhura offers a tranquil environment for the tourist. Some of the major attractions for tourists in Ramdhura are its offbeat destination & rustic environment, a splendid panoramic view of Mt. Kanchenjunga, and a view of the Teesta river flowing beneath the green valley, Flora & Fauna.
Activity and Attractions
The view of Kanchenjunga mountain is one of the prime attractions of any hill station in the Sikkim Darjeeling region. Ramdhura is bestowed with a clear and great view of the mountain range. It is also a base for visiting the very famous Silk Route that used to connect Kalimpong with Tibet half a century back. There are trekking options available in the nearby forests including a popular hike between Icchegaon and Sillerygaon. All the sightseeing options of Kalimpong can be enjoyed by Ramdhura as well, due to the proximity of the two places.
Delo View Point - Just 8 Km away from Ramdhura Village, Delo viewpoint offers a magnificent panoramic view of mountains and hilltops. It's a park that offers a great opportunity for the kids to have quality time here. It's one of the prime attractions for tourists visiting here. Paragliding is also done here.
Kalimpong Science centre - It's near Delo View Point, It's a science museum & also has a good view of the mountains surrounding. It's a good place for Kids & families to spend some quality time.
Icchey Gaon - Just 2.5 Km from Ramdhura, Icchey Gaon is also a small village in the Kalimpong district. This place offers a calm & peaceful environment with some scenic views.
Hanuman Temple - Apart from religious attractions, this place offers a magnificent view of Mt. Kanchenjunga.
Day Excursions can be done to Sillery Gaon, Pedong, etc. Also if the tourist wishes to do river rafting in the Teesta river they can do it as a part of a day excursion from Ramdhura. It is approximately 29 Km from there.

Since it is an offbeat destination and on the outskirts of the main town, luxurious stays are not available here, budget homestays which are cosy and hygienic are available for tourists and families. Getting There
Ramdhura is easily accessible by road from NJP rail station or Bagdogra airport. The easiest way to travel here is to come to Kalimpong first and then take the short drive of about half an hour from Kalimpong to Ramdhura. There is an alternative route that travels from the Sikkim Bengal border town of Rangpo and climbs the steep hill and reaches Ramdhura via Mansang. But for most visitors, the Kalimpong route would be easier to reach here.
