  • The people of North Bengal are also a varied lot. The tea gardens brought in Tribals from Bengal and Bihar. The hill stations attracted people from neighboring Nepal, and the partition of 1947 brought in Hordes of Bengalis from Bangladesh.
  • The Hills, the jungles and the serene beauty of undulating tea gardens spread to the horizon.

Across Dooars (Tour Code - LD706)

Tour Idea

In this tour we take you to the Dooars forests. In 7 days, you will visit Neora Valley NP, Gorumara NP, Jaldapara WLS, Buxa Tiger Reserve and Chapramari WLS. You will be going deep inside forests on elephant rides and jeep safaris; getting to see numerous flora and fauna and come across varied culture of the local people who have been living in these forests through centuries. The tour is meant for nature lovers who want to spend their time in the wilderness.

Best time to visit

Dooars can be visited any time of the year. The monsoon months are especially attractive as the forests are at their greenest best. Watching the rain itself is reason enough for spending a week in Dooars. You only need to bear in mind that between Mid June and Mid September the forest safaris are closed and visits inside forests are not possible. The winter months between November and March witnesses maximum tourist visit in Dooars. Costs are higher during this period and you may have to share the watchtower with many others.

Tour Brief

Samsing (1 night), Lataguri (2 nights), Madarihat (1 night), Rajabhatkhawa (2 nights).

This tour takes you across the Dooars forests. Your start at Samsing in Western Dooars which is at the base of Neora Valley National Park. Next you spend two nights at Lataguri from where you can visit Gorumara National Park, Chapramari Wild Life Sanctuary as well as other important destinations of Dooars such as Bindu, Jhalong and Jaldhaka. Move on to Madarihat which is adjacent to Jaldapara Wild Life Sanctuary. Your last 2 nights are spent at Buxa Tiger Reserve at the easternmost part of Dooars.
