Weekend Darjeeling (Tour Code - LS301)

Experience Darjeeling this weekend. With increased connectivity Bagdogra is just a few hours flight distance away from many major cities in India. From Kolkata, NJP railhead is just overnight journey. So you can take a Friday off and have a nice weekend in Darjeeling.

Detailed itinerary

Day1 – Arrival at NJP / Bagdogra in the morning. After reception to Darjeeling – 90 Kms in 3hrs. The journey to Darjeeling follows the Hill Cart Road that runs all along the forested hills, small villages and beautiful tea gardens. On the way you will have a chance to see the famous Toy train chugging its way on the zig-zag track. Take short break at Kurseong to see the beautiful valley covered with lush green tea garden and proceed to Darjeeling. The Queen of hills - greets you with all its grandeur: the great view of mountains and valleys dotted with tea gardens and forests, and a blend of traditional heritage and modern cultures. Check in at Hotel. Spend free evening at Darjeeling Mall. Overnight at Darjeeling.
                   
Day 2 - Early morning visit to Tiger Hill at 8500 ft above sea level to experience the unforgettable sight of Sunrise over the Kanchenjunga Mountains. Visit Ghoom Monastery - one of the oldest Monasteries in Darjeeling and also Batasia Loop - the picturesque garden and War Memorial with the backdrop of snow ranges - on your way back to hotel. Car service from 4.00AM to 7.30AM. Rest of the morning is at your disposal.
After Lunch we would take you to Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park (Closed on Thursday) to see some rare collection of high altitude Himalayan species like Snow leopard, clouded Leopard, Siberian Tiger, Red Panda and many rare mammal and birds in the nature surroundings. Visit Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (Closed on Thursday) to see the priceless collection of mountaineering gears used by legendary climbers in the Himalayas. After that we take you to the Tea garden on the undulating valleys for viewing the scenic landscape and tea plucking and processing (seasonal) then proceed to Tenzing rock and Gombu Rock for some fun rock climbing activities. Now we take you to the Tibetan Refugee center (Closed on Sunday) and Bhutia Basti to procure the traditional handicraft items made by the local people. Visit Ava Art Gallery that houses the unique art and embroidery works of Mrs. Ava Devi. Back to Hotel. Car service from 1.30PM to 4.30PM.

Day 3 - Today morning we recommend a toy train ride from Darjeeling to Ghoom and back for 1.5 hrs. You should be back from the train ride by 12. Start for NJP / Bagdogra as per your return journey schedule. Tour ends
