  • The people of North Bengal are also a varied lot. The tea gardens brought in Tribals from Bengal and Bihar. The hill stations attracted people from neighboring Nepal, and the partition of 1947 brought in Hordes of Bengalis from Bangladesh.
  • The Hills, the jungles and the serene beauty of undulating tea gardens spread to the horizon.

Mayfair Hill Resort - Darjeeling

Resort Type - Heritage

Located opposite the Governor's House near Darjeeling Mall, the Resort was once a summer palace of the Maharaja of Nazargung. Designed in the colonial style of the British era, the Resort faces westwards, and offers the warmth of sunlight to guests throughout the day. Surrounded by fir and pine trees, Mayfair Hill Resort nestles at the foot of a hill and overlooks several others.

The Resort offers cottage accommodation in addition to the accommodation in the main orchid villa. There are two restaurants “Magnolia” and “The Tiffany” offering Indian, Continental and Oriental cuisine. The library bar offers a fine selection of spirits, wines and tobacco. The resort also has a spa and fitness centre.

Guests in the resort get automatic temporary membership at the Gymkhana club of Darjeeling which is just a stones throw away. Games like billiards, roller-skating, table tennis, squash, badminton etc are available at the club.

The “Himalayan Bird” hall in the resort can accommodate about 80 people in theatre style arrangement, making it an attractive destination for conferences and corporate programs as well.
