- The people of North Bengal are also a varied lot. The tea gardens brought in Tribals from Bengal and Bihar. The hill stations attracted people from neighboring Nepal, and the partition of 1947 brought in Hordes of Bengalis from Bangladesh.
- The Hills, the jungles and the serene beauty of undulating tea gardens spread to the horizon.

Dooars and Hills (Tour Code – OS602)
A visit to the Kalimpong hills with western Dooars is an attractive combination. In 6 days we will take you through some of the lesser known tourist destinations of Kalimpong hills such as Lava, Lolegaon, Rishyap and also to Dooars forests such as Gorumara National Park and Jaldapara Wild Life Sanctuary. The unique combination of mountain and forests would entice tourists of varied tastes to this tour.
Best time to visit
You may go for this tour anytime during the year. During the monsoon months (July-August), there can be occasional landslides leading to blockage of some roads. You should carry an umbrella anytime during the year and light to heavy woolens depending upon the season of your travel. The mountains are not very high in altitude and the temperature during the winter months does not get to freezing levels. Sumer months are also comfortable as the temperature in the Dooars rarely crosses 30 (celsius).
Rishyap (1 night) - Lolegaon (1 night) –– Lataguri (2 nights) – Jaldapara (1 night)
You start your tour at Rishyap and Lolegaon, two of the best offbeat destinations of the Kalimpong hills. Then you would come down to Dooars and spend 2 nights at Gorumara National Park and the last night at Jaldapara Wild Life Sanctuary.
