  • The people of North Bengal are also a varied lot. The tea gardens brought in Tribals from Bengal and Bihar. The hill stations attracted people from neighboring Nepal, and the partition of 1947 brought in Hordes of Bengalis from Bangladesh.
  • The Hills, the jungles and the serene beauty of undulating tea gardens spread to the horizon.

The whole organization and process of finding the ideal travel plan was so smooth, uncomplicated and you answered immediately.
The guide and the driver (also the car) was carefully chosen, the guide knowledgeable, caring and very nice and polite, the driver very polite and an excellent driver! calm and professional.
All in all we felt safe and excellent guided and hotels well organized. I can recommend you to my best friends without hesitation.

My husband and I, both in our 50’s chose Nature Beyond as our tour operator in Sikkim primarily because my original email enquiry was answered straight away by the company owner, Pallab. Pallab patiently answered all my questions and I was confident that Nature Beyond was the right company for us. As we’re Australian and a long way from Sikkim, we still felt comfortable with our choice in Nature Beyond.

Months of planning later, the day arrived and we landed in Bagdogra Airport. A young guy picked us out of the crowd and introduced himself as Namgyal, our guide from Nature Beyond.

As we were catching the Bagdogra-Gangtok helicopter straight after landing, we were very short on time, but Namgyal organised all our paperwork, and visas etc at the helicopter desk like a pro.

Before we knew it our luggage had been whisked away to travel by car to Gangtok, 5 hours away. We boarded our helicopter with hand luggage only for our short flight to Gangtok with 3 other passengers.

On arrival in Gangtok a car and driver were waiting to take us to our chosen hotel. 5 hours later Namgyal arrived with our luggage. This is normal procedure for those lucky enough to experience the very reasonably priced helicopter flight.

Namgyal filled us in on the next day’s activities, and the next morning was there at the designated time with our driver Mr Ugan.

The next 8 days were fantastic. Each afternoon we talked about the next day’s activities with Namgyal and then he disappeared until the next morning. He was intelligent, polite, informative, and a wealth of information on anything and everything to do with Sikkim and beyond.

Our driver Mr Ugan was a reserved type of guy, whose English was better than he let on. He was, without a doubt, the most skilful driver we have ever experienced on our visits to India, and handled the crazy, chaotic Sikkim roads with confidence and skill. At times we thought our lives were about to be snuffed out over a cliff edge or head on collision, but somehow he manoeuvred us out of any potential disasters and we breathed a huge sigh of relief many times.

The highlight of our trip in Sikkim was in Kaluk when Namgyal took us for a walk around the back roads and local communities. This turned into quite an expedition as we trekked uphill and down dale amongst terraced fields hundreds of years old. We were welcomed by everyone we came across. One gentleman invited us into his home and we sat together, communicating with by smiles and gestures while his wife cooked him lunch. His home was spotless, and we left feeling very humble with their simple but happy life.

This trek around Kaluk was a first for Namgyal, and we had no idea where we were going to end up. When it was time to find our way back to town, he was in constant phone contact with Mr Ugan, who found us and drove us back to into Kaluk township and Ghonday Village Resort. We were all exhausted, but it was a brilliant day out.

As our last night in Sikkim was spent in Kaluk, 4 hours from Bagdogra, Namgyal was worried about road works on the way to the airport, so we left at dawn the next morning. The cloud had finally cleared from the rain the night before and we finally got to see Mt Kangchenjunga and the surrounding Himalayan range. But we had to go, as Namgyal didn’t want to take any chances by missing our flight back to Delhi.

We ended up with plenty of time to spare, so we visited Pallab in his office at Nature Beyond, a half hour from the airport. We discussed our trip, complimented his crew then left in plenty of time to reach Bagdogra Airport.

I would highly recommend Nature Beyond for any travel requirements.
